Do You REALLY Want Your Own Business?

The ideal of being your own boss is very attractive and casually asked most people would say, "yes to be my own boss would be great."

However, it needs to go farther than being the ideal. Having your own business is super. But what is it that you are really setting out to achieve?

1. Is it.

Freedom from employment?

Freedom from 9-5?

Freedom from boredom?

Freedom in general?

2. Or are you wanting

To be rich?

A better lifestyle?

More time with your family and friends?

More time for sports and recreation?

3. Or do you need to

Fulfil a long held ambition?

Create a product from your world beating idea?

Create something which will be your legacy to - your family, your community, mankind?

Express your creative talents?

Create income?

These questions have been pulled out of the air to illustrate a vital issue for consideration in your thinking and motivation when starting your own business. There are probably others that you may need to apply directly to your situation.

What matters is that as you decide to make the leap into the exciting business of becoming independent you must be clear on your motives. Your motives, their priority and your honest understanding of them will have a direct bearing on your chances of success.

The points listed under section 1 are understandable but no real foundation for starting a business. If you want to escape you will need to be very clear on what you are escaping from and where you are escaping to, you do not want to start a business only to find that you are not really suited to it?

The points made in sections 2 and 3 are more positive. Giving them and any others specific to your circumstances close consideration and priority ranking will lead to an understanding of why you want to make the change in your life. What is your motivation and what goals you are setting for yourself?

How exciting! Changing your life. It's important so let's do it properly. CONSTRUCTION AND EXTENSION OF THE PROPHET'S MOSQUE

It is mentioned in Bukhari as narrated by Anas bin Malik that when the prophet migrated to Madina area he stayed in Quba for fourteen days in the tribe of Banu Amr. He then proceeded to Madina. He arrived in Madina in the area of Banu Najjar near the house of Abu Ayyub Ansari. The prophet intended to build a mosque there. This land was owned by two orphans Sahl and Suhail. The prophet asked Abu Bakr to pay ten dinars to them for the land. The prophet laid down the foundation of this mosque during Rabi-ul-awwal 1 H. It's dimensions were about 35 x 30 meters. The foundation was laid with stones and the walls were built of unbaked bricks. Columns were made of trunks of palm trees and the roof was covered by branches of palm trees. It had three doors. One door was in the southern wall which was closed after the change of Qiblah. As a result of this a new door was opened in the northern wall. Other two doors were Bab Rahmah in the western wall and Bab Jibreel in the eastern wall.

The prophet personally took part in the construction activities of this mosque. He was reciting the following while carrying the stones with his own hands :

i.e. O Allah, the good done for the Day of Judgement is the real good. Please help the Mohajreen and Ansar.

Before the arrival of the prophet in Madina, Musab bin Omair used to lead the salat at this spot. In his absence Asad bin Zarara used to lead the salat at this place.

As mentioned in Bukhari and narrated by Abada bin Samat, the Ansar came to prophet and offered a large amount of their wealth for decoration of the mosque. The prophet said," I do not want to be different from my brother Musa. A cottage like the cottage of Musa is sufficient for us." Hence the prophet preferred a simple mosque and encouraged more and more people to pray there. On the contrary, we have very decorative mosques these days with very little attendance there on the regular basis.

EXTENSION BY THE PROPHET

After the prophet return from the battle of Khyber, he ordered to expand the mosque during Muharram 7H. Width was increased by 20 meters and the length by 15 meters. The new dimensions became 50 x 50 m2. The northern boundary of the mosque was where the Turkish construction ends in this direction. On the west side its boundary was five columns west of the pulpit. You will see written on each column there ' The boundary of prophet's mosque'. The foundation was laid with stones and the walls were built of unbaked mud bricks like before. The column were made of palm tree and the roof was covered by branches of palm trees. The height of the roof was increased from 2.5 meters to 3.5 meters. Caliph Osman paid for the land or this addition of the mosque.
Qushairi narrated that when the enemies surrounded Caliph Osman's house, he said to them," do you recall when the the prophet said," who will purchase the land for the extensions of the mosque and be rewarded with paradise?" I purchased the land for the addition of mosque from my personal funds. Today you don't permit me even to offer my salat there." ( Tirmidhi ).

RENOVATION BY CALIPH ABU BAKR

As mentioned in Baihaqi and narrated by Abdulla bin Omar, some of the columns of trunks of trees got worn out. Abu Bakr replaced them with similar columns and covered the roof with branches of palm tree.

GUIDANCE FOR CHARITY

Allah not only guides and motivates us for spending in the way of Allah but also teaches us the etiquettes of spending. For any spending to be acceptable three conditions must be fulfilled. It should be of Halal earnings, it should be spent with sincere intention and it should only be spent on those who truly deserve it.

The correct way of spending is not to remind people of a favor done to them and injure their feelings in any way. Allah describes this in Al Baqarah #262

Those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

If you don't have anything to give in charity, treat the needy person kindly and graciously. Al Baqarah #263

Kind words and forgiving of faults are better than sadaqah ( charity ) followed by injury. And Allah is Rich ( free of all needs ) and He is Most Forbearing.

Note that Allah is warning here that He can punish you for the mistreatment of the needy. Allah is, however, extremely patient and benevolent.

Allah is cautioning that by reminding others and injuring their feelings you will nullify your alms giving. A person who displays such behavior is actually spending for show and does not have a belief in Allah and the day of judgement. His charity will not earn him any reward. Allah illustrates it by a beautiful example. Consider a rock with some soil on it. Even if rain falls nothing will grow on it. The rain will leave the rock bare. Similarly the spending of this person will not benefit him in any way. Al Baqarah #264

O you who believe ! do not render in vain your sadaqah ( charity ) by reminders of your generosity or b injury, like him who spends his wealth to be seen of men, and he does not believe in Allah, nor in the last day. His likeness is the likeness of a smooth rock on which is a little dust; on it falls heavy rain which leaves it bare. They are not able to do anything with what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.

On the contrary a person whi spends his wealth seeking Allah's pleasure will have generous reward from Him. Even a tiny bit of his spending will have abig reward. Al Baqarah #265

And the likeness of those who spend their wealth seeking Allah's pleasure while they in their ownselves are sure and certain that Allah will reward them ( for their spending in His cause ), is the likeness of a garden on a height; heavy rain falls on it and it doubles its yield of harvest. And if it does not receive heavy rain, light rain suffices it. And Allah is All Seer ( Knows well ) of what you do.

The characteristics of people are given in Al Insan #8-9

And they give food, inspite of their love for it ( or for the love of Him ), to the poor, the orphan, and the captive ( Saying ): " We feed you seeking Allah's countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.

Look at contrast between a person who injures others' feelings and the one who does not look. For any form of thankfulness from the needy recipient.
Materials given in charity should be of fine quality. Sometimes people try to give in charity the unwanted materials. if such items were given to them they would have accepted it very reluctantly or merely out of formality. Obviously such charity is not acceptable to Allah, Al Baqarah #267-268

O you who believe! spend of the good things which you have ( legally ) earned, and of that which We have produced from the earth for you, and do not aim at that which is bad to spend from it. ( though) you would not accept it save if you close your eyes and tolerate therein. And know that Allah is Rich ( free of all needs ), and Worthy of all praise. Shaitan ( satan ) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit evil deeds. Whereas Allah promises you forgiveness from Himself and Bounty, and Allah is All Sufficient for His creatures needs, all Knower

In order to attain piety, it is necessary to give in charity what you love the most. Al Imran #92

By no means shall you attain Al Birr ( piety, righteousness-here it means Allah's reward, i.e paradise ), unless you spend ( in Allah's cause ) of that which you love; and whatever of good you spend, Allah knows it well.

When Abu Talha heard this verse, he gave his best garden and a well in charity immediately. ( Muslim, Bukhari )
Similarly Zaid bin harith gave a horse in charity since he loved it the most.( Ibn Jareer, Tabri )

it is better to give charity secretly although it is not a sin to give it openly. If the intention of the donor is to motivate other people for active participation in charitable activities, it would be better to give openly. Allah knows what is in our hearts. Al Baqarah #271

If you disclose your sadaqat ( alms-giving ), it is well; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, that is better for you. ( Allah ) will expiate you some of your sins. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do

INTEREST

Dealing in interest or usury is totally forbidden or haram for Jews, christians, and muslim as they received guidance from one and the same God. Allah knows that interest is extremely destructive for any group of people at any place and time. Jews and christian have openly tviolated this law of Allah. They have also imposed it on the people of other faiths so much so that these people of other faith are deeply buried in it and do not find a way out of this hardship.

An-Nisa #160 - 161

For the wrong doing of the jews, we made unlawful for them certain good foods which had been lawful for them - and for their hindering many from Allah's way; And their taking of riba ( usury ) though they were forbidden from taking it and their devouring of men's substance wrongfully ( bribery ). And we have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful torment.

Many of the muslims are also caught up in this wave of destruction. They try to find ways to go around the law of Allah. Some times they give lame excuses to justify their involvement in interest bearing activities. It is, therefore, essential to review the guidance provided by Qur'an and hadith pertaining to interest. Very detailed guidance is given in Surah Al-Baqarah 275-276 and #278-280 :

Those who eat usury will not stand ( on the day of resurrection ) except like the standing of a person beaten by satan leading him to insanity. That is because they say: " Trading is only like usury", whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden usury. So whosoever receives an admonition from his lord and stops eating usury shall not be punishe for the past; his case is for Allah ( to judge ); but whoever returns to usury, such are dwellers of the fire - they will abide therein. Allah will destroy usury and willgive increase for sadaqat ( deeds of charity, alms, etc ) and Allah likes not the disbelievers, sinners.

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains ( due to you ) from usury ( from now onward ), if you are ( really ) believers. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly, and you shall not be dealt with unjustly. And if the debtor is in a hard time ( has no money ), then grant him time till it is easy for him to repay, but if you remit it by way of charity, that is better for you if you did but know.

According to the view of many scholars such person will be raised in his grave as if satan has over powered him and he will be acting crazy. He will, therefore, be easily identified. This is because he made fun of the law of Allah by saying that interest is identical to trade since both involve some amount of profit. On the other hand, Allah who created everything knows best and by His Grand Wisdom made interest haram and the trading halal.
Al- Mulk #14 ;

Should not He Who has created know ? and He is The Most Kind and Courteous ( to His slave ), All - Aware ( of everything ).

Note that by giving charity, a person gives his wealth to others and it somewhat reduces his capital. By charging interest a person receives money from others on top of his capital. Qur'an explains this contradiction. A person who gives charity does so for the sake of Allah and for the reward from Allah on the Day of Judgement. This reward is immense. Hence his capital and benefits have actually grown. The person who charges interest will have no blessing in his wealth and trade and he will be definitely a loser on the Day of Judgement.

One Day Prophet Mohammad slaughtered a lamb. Prophet Mohammad went out of his house for some engagements. His wife Aisha gave away most of the lamb in charity. On his return prophet Mohammad asked his wife, " How much lamb is left ?", she said," All is gone except this one piece". Prophet Mohammad said," what is gone is left and what is left is lost". Hence anything given in charity is preserved and grows in the sight of Allah.

Moreover a rich person involved in interest can go bankrupt anytime but the rewards of charity are permanent and everlasting. Similarly a person involved in interest may buy all the amenities of the life but it does not guarantee his restful sleep and peace of mind. On the other hand a person who gives charity will not only have peace of mind but his reward on the Day of Judgement will be tremendous.

Prophet Mohammad said, " However large interest may be, its end result is always shortage". ( Musnad Ahmad & Ibn Majah ). Allah says in Al Baqarah 279, that if you repent your previous involvement in interest, you will be entitled to your original capital. If you do not repent, you will lose your original capital as well.

Finally, Islam guides towards fellow feeling and an exemplary behavior towards the poor as opposed to exploitation of the poor by the usury system. Allah says that if you find a debtor in hardship and he is unable to return your original capital right away, you should extend his payment time till he is able to do so. If, however, you totally forgive him and remit it, it would be an act of great generosity on your part.

This clearly shows that the usury system is there to exploit the poor and needy. Allah's charity system is to help the poor and needy so that they can survive and perpetuate in the life without much distress. Prophet Mohammad said," if somebody extends the payment period of poor, his reward will be as if he donated this amount in charity everyday of the extension period. This will apply when the period of payment has not expired and the extension was granted. If,however, you give extension after the period of payment has expired, then the reward will be twice of that state above." ( musnad Ahmad ).

Allah also says in Al- Imran #130

O you who believe! Eat not riba, usury, doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful.

The verses of Surah Al Baqarah were, revealed in the eight year of Hijra and in view of the seriousness of this subject the companions of prophet Mohammad were very particular about it. When Prophet Mohammad made his " Farewell Address ", he announced that this islamic law about usury was equally applicable to both muslims and non muslims. Non Muslims owed a large amount of interest to Abbas the uncle of the prophet. Abbas remitted or forgave his debtors a huge amount of the principal and the related interest submitting to the will of Allah.

Prophet Mohammad said to his companions," save yourself rom seven things, since they
are extremely harmful." Companions asked," what are they?" He said," to make partners with Allah, To perform magic. To kill others unjustly. To involve in usury. To devour an orphan's wealth. To run away in a battlefield. To blame a pious woman". ( Bukhari & Muslim ).
Prophet Mohammad also said, " Curse is on the one who takes interest and also on the one who gives interest. Curse is also on those who write and witness these documents as long as they know that it involves interest. All are equal in sin." ( Muslim )

When Prophet Mohammad reached seventh heaven during Miraaj, he passed by the community of people. He saw that the bellies of the residents of this community were blown up and looked like a residential house. Their bellies were filled with snakes which were visible from outside. He asked Jibriel," who are these people?" Jibriel said," these people were involved in usury". ( Musnad Ahmad ).

Definitely Muslim scholars and governments of islamic countries have to come up with a workable banking system to rescue the muslims. The will of scholars, government officials and the will of people have to play an important role.

There are some legal financial institutions in a few countries which do offer interest free investments. For example, there is North American Islamic Trust in America which is legally established and runs its affairs very close to islamic laws. It has an enviable track record of about twenty years. It has a sister institution in Canada which follows Canadian financial laws as well as islamic laws. There could be other such institutions in European and Asian countries. Unfortunately, when muslims are introduced to these institutions, they show their reservations and disinterest simply because they are run by their muslim brothers. This is not a healthy approach. Muslims should at least try to get written details of these institutions and then cool mindedly evaluate them. No project can grow without the support of general public. It is definitely sinful to totally close eyes on these islamic financial institutions with lame excuses and support the interest bearing bodies.

May Allah give us the courage and co-operation to come out of this mess. Ameen

The Qur'an on the Expanding Universe and the Big Bang Theory

Hubble’s Law
>For thousands of years, astronomers wrestled with basic questions concerning the universe. Until the early 1920’s, it was believed that the universe had always been in existence; also, that the size of the universe was fixed and not changing. However, in 1912, the American astronomer, Vesto Slipher, made a discovery that would soon change astronomers’ beliefs about the universe. Slipher, noticed that the galaxies were moving away from earth at huge velocities. These observations provided the first evidence supporting the expanding-universe theory.

In 1916, Albert Einstein formulated his General Theory of Relativity that indicated that the universe must be either expanding or contracting. Confirmation of the expanding-universe theory finally came in 1929 in the hands of the well known American astronomer Edwin Hubble.
By observing redshifts in the light wavelengths emitted by galaxies, Hubble found that galaxies were not fixed in their position; instead, they were actually moving away from us with speeds proportional to their distance from earth (Hubble's Law). The only explanation for this observation was that the universe had to be expanding. Hubble’s discovery is regarded as one of the greatest in the history of astronomy. In 1929, he published the velocity-time relation which is the basis of modern cosmology. In the years to come, with further observations, the expanding-universe theory was accepted by scientists and astronomers alike.

Yet, astonishingly well before telescopes were even invented and well before Hubble published his Law, Prophet Muhammad used to recite a verse of the Quran to his companions that ultimately stated that the universe is expanding.

“And the heaven We created with might, and indeed We are (its) expander.” (Quran 51:47)
At the time of the revelation of the Quran, the word “space” was not known, and people used the word “heaven” to refer to what lies above the Earth. In the above verse, the word “heaven” is referring to space and the known universe. The verse points out that space, and thus the universe, happens to be expanding, just as Hubble’s Law states.
That the Quran mentioned such a fact centuries before the invention of the first telescope, at a time when there was primitive knowledge in science, is considered remarkable. This is more so considering that, like many people in his time, Prophet Muhammad happened to be illiterate and simply could not have been aware of such facts by himself. Could it be that he had truly received divine revelation from the Creator and Originator of the universe?
The Big Bang Theory

Soon after Hubble published his theory, he went on to discover that not only were galaxies moving away from the Earth, but were also moving away from one another. This meant that the universe happened to be expanding in every direction, in the same way a balloon expands when filled with air. Hubble’s new findings placed the foundations for the Big Bang theory.
The Big Bang theory states that around 12-15 billion years ago the universe came into existence from one single extremely hot and dense point, and that something triggered the explosion of this point that brought about the beginning of the universe. The universe, since then, has been expanding from this single point.
Later, in 1965, radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson made a Noble Prize winning discovery that confirmed the Bing Bang theory. Prior to their discovery, the theory implied that if the single point from which the universe came into existence was initially extremely hot, then remnants of this heat should be found. This remnant heat is exactly what Penzias and Wilson found. In 1965, Penzias and Wilson discovered a 2.725 degree Kelvin Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMB) that spreads through the universe. Thus, it was understood that the radiation found was a remnant of the initial stages of the Big Bang. Presently, the Big Bang theory is accepted by the vast majority of scientists and astronomers.

It is mentioned in the Quran:

“He (God) is the Originator of the heavens and the earth…” (Quran 6:101)

“Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes; and He is the Knowing Creator. His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” (Quran 36:81-82)

The above verses prove that the universe had a beginning, that God was behind its creation, and all that God needs to do inorder to create is to say “Be,” and it is. Could this be an explanation as to what triggered off the explosion that brought about the beginning of the universe?
The Quran also mentions:

“Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, then We separated them, and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?” (Quran 21:30)

Muslim scholars who have explained the previous verse mention that the heavens and earth were once one, and then God caused them to separate and form into the seven heavens and Earth. Yet, due to the limitations of science and technology at the time of the revelation of the Quran (and for centuries to follow), no scholar was able to give much detail about how exactly the heavens and earth were created. What the scholars could explain was the precise meaning of each word in Arabic in the verse, as well as the overall meaning of the verse.
In the previous verse, the Arabic words ratq and fataq are used. The word ratq can be translated into “entity”sewn to” “joined together or “closed up”. The meaning of these translations all circulate around something that is mixed and that has a separate and distinct existence. The verb fataq is translated into We unstitched” “We clove them asunder” “We separated” or We have opened them”. These meanings imply that something comes into being by an action of splitting or tearing apart. The sprouting of a seed from the soil is a good example of a similar illustration of the meaning of the verb fataq. With the introduction of the Big Bang theory, it soon became clear to Muslim scholars that the details mentioned with regards to the theory go identically hand in hand with the description of the creation of the universe in verse 30 of chapter 21 of the Quran. The theory states that all the matter in the universe came into existence from one single extremely hot and dense point; that exploded and brought about the beginning of the universe, matches what is mentioned in the verse that the heaven and Earth (thus the universe) where once joined together, and then split apart. Once again, the only possible explanation is that Prophet Muhammad had truly received divine revelation from God, The Creator and Originator of the universe.

History of Chinese Embroidery

> Chinese embroidery boasts a very long history. As the "Longevity embroidery" and "Token embroidery" unearthed from the Mawangdui Han Tomb in Changsha, Hunan Province, indicate, it reached a rather high level of development some 2000-3000 years ago. Wang Jia of the Jin Dynasty wrote in Making Good Omissions: "In the period of Three Kingdoms, Madame Zhao, wife of His Lord the chief of Wu, could embroider the map of all kingdoms on a piece of silk fabric, with the mountain ranges, rivers and sees all clearly shown. People of that time described it as superb needle-work." The said map was perhaps the earliest recorded embroidery in China.
> Embroidery, a folk art with a long tradition, has an important position in the history of Chinese arts and crafts. In its long development embroidery has been inseparable from silkworm raising and silk reeling and weaving.
> China was the first country in the world to weave silk. Silkworms were domesticated as early as some 5,000 years ago. The production of silk threads and fabrics gave rise to the art of embroidery. In 1958, a piece of silk embroidered with a dragon and phoenix was discovered in a state of Chu tomb of the Warring Sates Period (475-221BC). More than 2,000 years old, it is the earliest piece of Chinese embroidery ever unearthed. Embroidery became widespread during the Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220) and many embroidered pieces discovered date back to that period.
> Today, silk embroidery is practiced nearly all over China. The Four Famous Embroideries of China refer to the Xiang embroidery in central China's Hunan Province, Shu embroidery in western China's Sichuan Province, Yue embroidery in southern China's Guangdong Province and Su embroidery in eastern China's Jiangsu Province.
Xiang Embroidery
Xiang embroidery is well known for its time-honored history, excellent craftsmanship and unique style. The earliest piece of Xiang embroidery was unearthed at the No 1 Tomb of Mawangdui, Changsha City of the Han Dynasty (206BC-AD220). The weaving technique was almost the same as the one used in modern times, which demonstrated that embroidery had already existed in the Han Dynasty. In its later development, Xiang Embroidery absorbed the characteristics of traditional Chinese paintings and formed its own unique characteristics. Xiang embroidery experienced its heyday at the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and in the early Republic of China (early 20th century), even surpassing Su embroidery. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xiang embroidery was further improved and developed to a new level.
Xiang embroidery uses pure silk, hard satin, soft satin and nylon as its material, which is connected with colorful silk threads. Absorbing the spirit of Chinese paintings, the embroidery reaches a high artistic level. Xiang embroidery crafts include valuable works of art, as well as materials for daily use.
Shu Embroidery
Also called Chuan embroidery, Shu embroidery is the general name for embroidery products in areas around Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Shu embroidery enjoys a long history. As early as the Han Dynasty, Shu embroidery was already famous. The central government even designated an office in this area for its administration. During the Five Dynasties and Ten States periods (907-960), a peaceful society and large demand provided advanced conditions for the rapid development of the Shu Embroidery industry. Shu embroidery experienced its peak development in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), ranking first in both production and excellence. In the mid-Qing Dynasty, the Shu embroidery industry was formed. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Shu embroidery factories were set up and the craft entered a new phase of ddevelopment, using innovative techniques and a larger variety of forms.
Originating among the folk people in the west of Sichuan Province, Shu embroidery formed its own unique characteristics: smooth, bright, neat and influenced by the geographical environment, customs and cultures. The works incorporated flowers, leaves, animals, mountains, rivers and human figures as their themes. Altogether, there are 122 approaches in 12 categories for weaving. The craftsmanship of Shu embroidery involves a combination of fine arts, aesthetics and practical uses, such as the facings of quits, pillowcases, coats, shoots and screen covers.
Yue Embroidery
Also called Guang embroidery, Yue embroidery is a general name for embroidery products of the regions of Guangzhou, Shantou, Zhongshan, Fanyu and Shunde in Guangdong Province. According to historical records, in the first year of Yongyuan's reign (805) during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), a girl named Lu Meiniang embroidered the seventh volume of the Fahua Buddhist Scripture on a piece of thin silk 30 cm long. And so, Yue embroidery became famous around the country. The prosperous Guangzhou Port of the Song Dynasty promoted the development of Yue embroidery, which began to be exported at that time. During the Qing Dynasty, people animal hair as the raw material for Yue embroidery, which made the works more vivid. During Qianlong's reign (1736-1796) of the Qing, an industrial organization was established in Guangzhou. At that time, a large number of craftsmen devoted themselves to the craft, inciting further improvements to the weaving technique. Since 1915, the work of Yue embroidery garnered several awards at the Panama Expo.
Influenced by national folk art, Yue embroidery formed its own unique characteristics. The embroidered pictures are mainly of dragons and phoenixes, and flowers and birds, with neat designs and strong, contrasting colors. Floss, thread and gold-and-silk thread embroidery are used to produce costumes, decorations for halls and crafts for daily use.
Su Embroidery
With a history of more than 3,000 years, Su embroidery is the general name for embroidery products in areas around Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The craft, which dates back to the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280), became a sideline of people in the Suzhou area during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Well known for its smoothness and delicateness, Su embroidery won Suzhou the title City of Embroidery in the Qing Dynasty. In the mid and late Qing, Su embroidery experienced further developments involving works of double-sided embroidering. There were 65 embroidery stores in Suzhou City. During the Republic of China period (1912-1949), the Su embroidery industry was in decline due to frequent wars and it was restored and regenerated after the founding of new China. In 1950, the central government set up research centers for Su embroidery and launched training courses for the study of embroidery. Weaving methods have climbed from 18 to the present 40.
Su embroidery features a strong, folk flavor and its weaving techniques are characterized by the following: the product surface must be flat, the rim must be neat, the needle must be thin, the lines must be dense, the color must be harmonious and bright and the picture must be even. Su embroidery products fall into three major categories: costumes, decorations for halls and crafts for daily use, which integrate decorative and practical values. Double-sided embroidery is an excellent representative of Su embroidery.
In addition to the four major embroidery styles there are Ou embroidery of Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province; Bian embroidery of Kaifeng, Henan Province and Han embroidery of Wuhan, Hubei Province.

More things You Never Knew About Making Money With Online

Starting an online business can be a nerve-wracking process, particularly if trade is unfamiliar ground to you. Some people often think that just because they've never sold a thing in their life, they would be in a strange land if they so much as make a sales pitch. Which is really too bad, considering that there are plenty of opportunities that could have provided them with extra income or a way to use their skills and talents, if only they took the chance. These days, though, more and more people make money online with their own businesses and if they've enjoyed some measure of success, why shouldn't you?
So what's it like to make money online?
To show you what it's like to start a business making money online, let's outline the things that you can expect in this type of venture:
#Business Processes Are Streamlined.
Believe it or not, starting a money-making business online will allow you to run a retail business all by yourself. It's like manning a shop without any assistants or extra staff. Since many of the resources you'll need are available online, there's no need to purchase or install physical equipment. Inventory can be kept low and communication between buyers and suppliers is faster.
Since feedback from customers is also faster, improving the business is also a lot easier. In the past, customer complaints brought about by a defective product often took weeks or months before they were resolved.
#A Flatter Organization Is Encouraged.
It's not that there is something wrong with traditional organizational hierarchies but flatter organizations mean that it is easier for someone in the organization to take command responsibility. Jobs are also easily assigned thanks to a simpler business process.
Best of all, customers are more likely to get in direct contact with the business owner. It's like being able to get an appointment with the company CEO without going through four secretaries and three executive assistants.
#The Turnover Of Products In Exchange For Cash Is Faster.
Given that you have the right business model and products to go with it, a money-making online business can provide you with a means to sell and earn, sometimes literally within a matter of minutes. If you've tried posting an item up for auction on a popular website, for example, you probably have noticed this phenomenon.
#You Can Let Competition Bother You Or Improve You.
Make money online businesses are not well-kept secrets. By now, almost anyone who has access to a computer knows that there's cash to be made on the Internet. As such, expect some tough competition out there. In some industries, for example, there's already some serious market saturation, where people may still make money but only in trickles.
However, there's hope. Experienced internet marketers continue to create innovative ways and means to provide other online entrepreneurs a way with which to earn. Expect these new opportunities to emerge in order to meet new demands. One of these opportunities, for example, is Big Ticket to Wealth, a network marketing program that follows the established formula of MLM and yet, effectively came up with a unique way of allowing its members to earn more with its matching override scheme. Through this scheme, sponsors are able to earn more commissions from businesses brought in by their members. It's programs like this that you should watch out for, where efforts are well rewarded.
Sometimes, It Truly Is About You.
Sometimes, all it takes to make money with an online business is a skill or a talent, literally. Since all the traditional requirements often needed to run a business offline is no longer required online, anyone with the right set of skills or marketable talents can use these qualities and turn them into a saleable product or service.Think about it: if you're a graphic designer, for example, all you truly need in order to turn your skill and experience into a money-making online business are a computer, software for graphics creation and editing, an Internet connection and a website from which to advertise your skills and attract clients. Plus, it's a one-man operation; you offer your own services and get to pocket every penny you earn. No need to pay the middleman, your manager or your staff. When you can run an online business that lets you make money you can claim as 100% yours, what could be better than that?

A Few Tips on Direct Advertising For Your Site

1. Before Looking For Direct Advertisers, Read Your Site.I say read your site first before attempting to contact companies. Why? Well, you have to ask yourself, is my site worth advertising on? You can't expect a direct advertiser to sign up on a pro-bono case. If you are just starting out in this business, don't expect to reach the brightest stars. Settle for small companies or sites until you have established the popularity and credibility of your site.
2. Search For Advertisers. There are several ways to search for sponsors. One is through search engines, where you perform a search on sites such as google.com, yahoo.com and vivisimo.com. There are also marketing websites to search from such as text-links-ads.com. Another way is to check out other blogs with related contents as yours and look at their advertisers. Chances are, they will sign a similar deal with you.
3. Target Potential Sponsors.Carefully target your sponsors. Think of the content of your blog and the kind of readers you'll most probably attract. Choose the companies that your viewers can relate to. Then, make a list of the potential companies that can mutually benefit in advertising on your site.
4. Sell Your Web Page.It is not enough that you ask your target companies if they would like to sponsor your site, you have to attract them to do so. Show them what they will be buying. Emphasize the benefits they will get by placing their ads on your page. Give them reasons to sponsor. If your site content is directly connected to their product, tell them. If your site is manning web traffic, let that be known. The best way to get advertisers is to beat them at their own game.
5. Give Special Offers. If they are still reluctant to promote their product on your site, give them special offers. Give them a discount to draw them into making a deal with you. Or perhaps, a free trial to test what your site can offer.
6. Give Their Generosity Justice. If you are lucky enough to get your target sponsors, remember to create the best value you can offer. Make your site as informative and entertaining as possible to generate a larger traffic number. You can also promote your site to other pages so that your page can be accessed more. Furthermore, build your credibility as a businessman and follow contract agreements. Remember, happy advertisers make hefty wallets.
